COVID-19 Precautions

COVID-19 Precautions

December 16, 2020

Vaccines are on their way!

Christian Village Communities is pleased to be part of Phase 1 of the national COVID-19 vaccine rollout.

From the pharmacy options provided by the federal government, we have selected Walgreens to deliver and administer COVID-19 vaccines to our healthcare residents and staff. We are expecting to receive either the Moderna or the Pfizer vaccine and both require two doses for efficacy. Walgreen pharmacists and technicians will come to our campuses to administer the vaccine and to ensure proper storage and handling.   We expect vaccinations to begin very soon.

The vaccine will be administered at no out-of-pocket cost to staff or healthcare residents. Insurance information will be collected and billed. Those who do not have insurance will be asked to sign a waiver.

The Ohio Department of Health announced that indoor visitation for skilled nursing and assisted living will be permitted on Monday, October 12, 2020. These visits are permitted under certain conditions and solely if certain safety standards are met. As we wait for the public health order outlining these conditions, our team is excitedly preparing for these visitations. Once the order is released, we will update our visitation policy and communicate it to our residents and family members. We can’t wait to see your smiling faces again and reunite residents with their loved ones!

June 9, 2020

On Friday, June 5, Gov. Mike DeWine and the Ohio Department of Health released guidelines regarding supervised outdoor visitation in Assisted Living. For our Assisted Living residents, their representative will be contacted and given details regarding scheduling the outdoor visit. We continue to encourage and offer scheduled barrier visits as well as video calling.

Our leadership team is constantly monitoring the COVID environment and all governmental and health directives. All Christian Village Communities staff continues to wear masks at all times, and we are screening every staff member for illness and fever every shift. We remain vigilant in our infection prevention and control measures, including proper cleaning of rooms and areas, hand hygiene, screening staff and other healthcare workers, and controlled entry and exit.

In order to keep our residents safe and healthy, we ask that family members delivering gifts for their loved ones to please drop these items off at our front entrances between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. Please have the resident’s name and room number attached.

We remain under Governor DeWine’s order for suspension of visitation to nursing facilities and assisted living communities. Please utilize video calling in addition to phone calls and letters. Our activity directors can set up FaceTime or other methods of calls between you and your loved ones. For Mt. Healthy, contact Shannon Bryant at 513-728-6605, and at Mason, contact Tracy Wolcott at 513-701-3414.

We are committed to compassionate, quality care of our residents and patients. Thank you for your patience and understanding during this unprecedented time.

Our efforts remain constant: To protect our residents, patients, and staff by following all of the guidelines given to us by various authorities. Christian Village Communities is complying with all guidance related to infection control policies and procedures from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). We continue to screen all staff, residents and visitors for symptoms of COVID-19, including temperature checks.

Since visiting our buildings is still postponed throughout the month of April, we encourage family members to utilize FaceTime or other video calling technology (in addition to regular phone calls and letters) in order to connect with our residents and patients. Our staff members are ready to assist you with this process. Please let us know how we can best connect you to your loved one.

In an additional effort to keep our residents safe, our staff members are wearing masks. We are following the CDC’s guidelines for extended use, where appropriate.

We understand the stress this outbreak has placed on those family members who have relatives in nursing care and assisted living. Thank you for your cooperation during this time. Please direct any questions to our Infection Prevention Nurse or Director of Nursing.

Christian Village Communities is responding to the continually changing recommendations for COVID-19 (coronavirus) from the Ohio Department of Health (ODH), the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), LeadingAge Ohio (our trade association) and others.  Please continue to check here for updates.

The directives we are receiving still mandate that we cannot have visitors in our nursing and assisted living areas. We are utilizing FaceTime or other methods of communication to assist residents in having a conversation with their family members and friends. We urge you to make phone calls, write letters and use our assistance in communicating with your loved ones. Be assured that we are utilizing our staff in creative ways to make extra rounds to ensure that our residents have daily visits and are safe.

We are fully aware of the sacrifices and personal concerns that this crisis has brought upon our residents’ family members and loved ones, and like you, look forward to the day when the restrictions being mandated to us now will be lifted. Thank you for your cooperation during this truly unprecedented time for healthcare.
